ANGUS CYCLING CLUB – SUMMER CHALLENGES

 


Angus CC members have put together a varied program of challenging rides over the summer to suit cyclists of all abilities, from newcomers to experienced long-distance hard riders.

Ranging from a gentle 50k to a leg-breaking 300k you are sure to find something to inspire and challenge you.  We hope you will join in and enjoy riding your bike in some great countryside.

25-26 April Forfar Weekend

Saturday
*Scone the Flat Way 100k
As it says, a flat(tish) run to on quiet roads to Scone, out via Glamis and Balbeggie, back via Stormontfield and Coupar Angus

Pitlochry 150k A fairly flat run to Pitlochry via Dunkeld, a hilly section over to Kirkmichael then back down Glen Isla

Sunday
Lintrathen Loop 50k
An easy run up to Kirrie, round Lintrathen Loch, with a break at Peel Farm, then back on some hillier roads via Airlie and Drumgley

*Glen Isla 100k Over the Hill of Three Cairns, up to Kirkmichael then back over Blacklunans and down Glen Isla

Sunday 17 May, Forfar
Howe of the Mearns 110k
Out to Fettercairn, through Drumtochty Glen and Auchenblae down to Laurencekirk and over Garvock Hill to St Cyrus returning to Forfar by Bridge of Dun

Deeside Loop 200k A well established ride, out to Fettercairn then the big climb of Cairn o 'Mount, along Deeside to Braemar then home over Glen Shee and down Glen Isla

6-7 June  Kirriemuir Weekend 

Saturday
A Mearns Meander 160k
(100 miles) A steady ride though the Mearns to Stonehaven and Banchory then back over Cairn oMount the easy way

The Snow Roads 300k A classic and challenging hilly route round the central highlands, featuring the Cairn oMount, Banchory, the Cabrach, Dufftown, the Lecht, Braemar and Cairnwell

Sunday
A Potter for Tea 100k 
An easy tour of Angus countryside, with two (count em) café stops at Carmyllie and Stracathro, and a downhill finish!

The Dunning Done In 200k  North up Glen Isla into highland Perthshire through Pitlochry and Aberfeldy, and back via Dunning and Coupar Angus

 Sunday 16 August
Pitlochry & Kinloch Rannoch 200k
A fairly testing ride, from Forfar all the way west via south Loch Tummel to Kinloch Rannoch then back via the Queens View , Pitlochry and Glen Isla

Lethnot & Lunan 100k A pleasant run along the byways of Angus to Glen Lethnot leading on to Edzell then over to the coast with fine views over Lunan Bay. Back to Forfar via Carmylie.
